Term | Definition |
CF (CONFER) | Sometimes put in front of a species name to mean that the species being identified is close to, but not exactly, a certain species; it also implies that you know for sure that it is not that species mentioned, but merely close to it, e.g., Conus cf. crocatus Lamarck, 1810; (a "?" prior to a species name indicate that the correct name is possibly the one mentioned).
