The "Visitor" level position is for anyone who just wants to browse the database and submit terms and definitions anonymously. This no-account-required level of use provides access to the benefits of the site but provides no credit or acknowledgments for you, or questions to you, for the terms and/or definitions submitted.
Status:
The "Visitor" level is the initial and default entry level of use of this glossary.
At this level of use, the visitor is anonymous and not logged in to any account.
Capabilities:
The Visitor has access to retrieve all of the terms, definitions, illustrations, graphics, and photos via the menus and search options.
The Visitor also has the option to add new terms, or add definitions to existing terms which totally lack definitions, or add a combination of a new term together with a new definition.
Procedures:
A term can be added with or without a definition.
--- If a term is submitted without a definition, the text "need definition" will be automatically added in red text to the definition field. The list of "Terms for which a Definiton is Needed" facilitates updates and is easily accessible via the "Specialty Reports".
Any "Visitor" may add a definition at any time to the term whose definition states "Need Definition".
After a definition is added, the definition will be placed into "quarantine" until it has been approved by a glossary Editor.
--- If a definition is submitted with a term, the definition will be placed into "quarantine" until it has been approved by a glossary Editor.
All terms in the glossary are stored in UPPER CASE letters.
--- If a term is entered in lower case letters, it will automatically be converted to all capital letters before being stored in the database.
Presently, if any graphics or photos are to be added to the definition, they'll need to be attached to an email and sent to
The "Visitor" (and those at the "Contributor" level) is not expected to provide html codes to link to other terms while entering a new definition. However, if you'd like try it the instructions are in the "Editor" manual. Note, however, that Editors can edit their mistakes... if you, at the "Visitor" level, make a mistake in coding and then save the term/definition, you have no way to edit/fix the problem. You'd have to get it right, the first time! ...or notify an Editor of the edits needed.
