User Accounts

Why have an account? Plain and simple: You don't NEED an account.

You can view terms, enter new terms, and enter new definitions without an account.

Having an account facilitates logging credit for your data input, and (at higher account levels) provides editorial access to existing data.

Account Levels, and cumulative capabilities: (see also: Administration Menu)
0 = V = Visitor: Those with no account; View and enter terms and definitions. No credit for adding terms or definitions.
1 = C = Contributor: Credit is logged for adding terms or definitions. Change your own account data.
2 = E = Editor: Edit and approve pending definitions, edit any/all definitions.
3 = A = Administrator: Edit user account data (incl. change user passwords, activate/deactivate level 1 & 2 accounts, etc.), change Editor password,

and promote Contributor (level 1) accounts to Editor (level 2) accounts.

4 = D = Developer: Change Administrator password; modify and upload web pages and database

and promote any account to an Administrator level account. Assign additional Developer level accounts.

Having an account will serve multiple purposes:
1. Any terms that you enter will be credited to you. Maybe, years from now, there will be a prize to the greatest contributor... MAYBE!
2. Having an account, and contributing, will put you in good standing if you ever decide that you'd like to contribute time and effort

as an Editor of the glossary (approving new terms and definitions, editing any existing definition, linking terms, linking photos, etc.).

3. You cannot be an "Editor" without first having had a good track record with a "Contributor" account... unless I know you!
4. With an account, if you enter a term or definition that I have question about, I (or another trusted Administrator) can email you for clarification...

"Editor" level users will NOT have access to your Email Address (or any account info).
